Frequently Asked Questions

How are Nicky Forrest Jewellery orders packaged?

When you purchase from Nicky Forrest Jewellery your order will be shipped and delivered to you in one of my stylish & eco-friendly jewellery boxes. My jewellery boxes are fully recyclable and are FSC certified and made from fully recycled materials. The boxes do not contain any tarnish-accelerating chemicals keeping your jewellery piece tarnish-free for longer.

How are Nicky Forrest Jewellery orders shipped / delivered?

Most jewellery pieces are made to order and many, due to the Sterling silver weight, are required by law to be hallmarked by the closest Assay office in Edinburgh. Please allow up to 28-days for delivery from order.

Orders will be shipped using a 48-hr tracked shipping using Royal Mail. If you provide contact details at point of order I will forward tracking details once posted.

How should I look after my jewellery?

Silver is a precious metal found naturally on Earth. Sterling silver has many qualities such as being antibacterial, antimicrobial and hypoallergenic. It can tarnish naturally with exposure to the environment around us, eg. exposure to airborne sulphur-containing substances, moisture, sweat, salt, some creams used on our skin, perfumes we wear, chlorine, etc.

Tarnishing can be avoided simply with a few simple preventative measures. Store your jewellery in a cool & dry area, ideally in a suitable container or a soft, tarnish-resistant pouch or bag. Keep your jewellery dry and remove it before swimming.

If your jewellery tarnishes, don't worry, this is natural. To remove any tarnishing simply use a silver polishing cloth and your silver jewellery will be restored to it's full glory in minutes. I advise using a polishing cloth instead of a jewellery cleaning solution especially if the jewellery has a stone.

Is my jewellery hallmarked?

In the UK it is illegal to sell or describe an item as Gold, Silver, Platinum or Palladium unless it is hallmarked if the item's weight exceeds the hallmark exemption threshold in accordance with the Hallmarking Act 1973, version 9/2025.

Any of my jewellery pieces above the weight threshold are hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office as standard. Some smaller items that fall below the treshold, and therefore exempt, are not hallmarked as standard but can be at an additional cost. I only use high quality recycled Sterling Silver, fine silver and gold from reputable suppliers within the UK.
